Taxation awards winners’ special issue

One of our traditions is to invite category winners in the Taxation awards to contribute to the magazine. Despite everything that has happened this year we have been able to continue the tradition and I am delighted to welcome four of the 2020 winners as guest contributors this week.

This year’s awards were, of course, a virtual event. Our video stream was well received but it could never have quite the same impact as a live event. We are therefore intending to resume normal service for 2021 and hold an awards ceremony at the Park Lane Hilton on 13 May. Look out for information about the launch of the awards and how to enter over the next few days.

The awards are a good way of looking at the health of the tax industry. Last year’s entries were submitted just before the reality of the Covid-19 crisis hit us all: indeed the last time I travelled to our London office was to chair the judging panel. That seems a lifetime ago now.

I am sure that our 2021 awards will show the resilience of our profession under the severest challenge that it has ever faced. It will be fascinating to see how firms have adapted – what new ways of supporting clients have evolved and how well have employers coped with the challenge of large numbers of employees working at home. There

will be more on the awards in weeks to come.

In the meantime enjoy our selection of prize winners’ articles this week. Will people be reading your winners’ article next year? Why not think about putting in an entry?

If you do one thing...
