Taxpayers are more aware of HMRC’s digitalisation plans

Awareness of the forthcoming making tax digital for income tax self assessment (MTD ITSA) changes starting to creep up among self-employed workers according to untied’s MTD confidence tracker.

It reveals that since the last survey in November 2021 the same percentage (27%) of self-employed taxpayers are either extremely or very aware of the new MTD ITSA reporting rules but more individuals (27%) are ‘somewhat aware’ than in November 2021 when the figure was 17%. The number of people who are ‘not at all aware’ is substantially lower at 31% compared to 46% in November. This means that the overall awareness score has risen to 40.8% against 34% last time.
