In the past few months readers may have noticed some differences to the look of HMRC’s website. There is for example no longer a general heading for employers or VAT on the home page.
The links used to point to wide-ranging topic area navigation pages and according to HMRC data many users were not ‘finding what they needed when they landed on these pages’. According to the department ‘its homepage is used by a relatively small proportion of all our users on GOV.UK who primarily find our content via search’. HMRC has replaced them with links to ‘more subject-specific pages that match what users are asking about or searching for based on various sources of data and insight’.
