HMRC has launched a new helpline for businesses concerned about paying their tax due to Covid-19. It replaces the number launched a week ago.
The number is available for any business or self-employed individual who is concerned about paying their tax due to the pandemic to obtain practical help and advice. The department states some 2,000 experienced call handlers are available to respond to calls.
HMRC will discuss a business’s or self-employed individual’s specific circumstances to explore agreeing an instalment arrangement; suspending debt collection proceedings; or cancelling penalties and interest where someone has administrative difficulties contacting or paying HMRC immediately.
The helpline number is 0800 024 1222. People calling the old number will be auto-redirected to the new one.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. It will not be available on bank holidays.
