Lack of awareness of conditionality tax check rules may result in loss of licence

There is widespread concern among local authorities about the implementation and management of the conditionality tax checks to be introduced in April 2022 according to a new study from untied the personal tax app.

The report found that while most consider taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) operators as well as drivers should be preparing in advance of the forthcoming changes almost two thirds (73%) are not confident that all operators in their area are aware of these checks. 

Under the new legislation all self-employed taxi and PHV drivers will have to pass a ‘tax check’ to renew their operational licence. Failure to do so will result in the loss of their licence.
