HMRC has restored access to the agent dedicated line initially on a trial basis. A prioritised support service - Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm on 0300 200 3311 – is now available and HMRC expects calls to this line to be answered within ten minutes. It says it will help it to maintain the service if agents spread calls throughout the day rather than phoning as soon as the helpline opens. It plans to keep agents’ representative bodies informed about how it performs against this target.
However HMRC states it is ‘expecting’ agents to use digital services where these are available. These include:
- progress chasing – the ‘where’s my reply? tool for tax agents; HMRC has done some work to make it more reliable and intends to add other taxes;
