From 31 March 2026 the Companies House and HMRC joint online filing service will close.
From 1 April 2026 companies will have to use commercial software to file annual accounts and corporation tax returns with HMRC although they will be able to file their accounts using Companies House own web service or on paper.
Companies House says it is closing the service because it no longer aligns to modern digital standards enhanced corporation tax requirements or changes to UK company law under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCTA).
The closure also reinforces the changes taking place at Companies House such as implementing further measures set out in the ECCTA and introducing new processes such as identity verification.
