Businesses should prepare for rise in customs declarations

Businesses of all sizes that import and export to the EU should set up plans for their customs declarations forms ahead of the UK’s departure from the bloc according to niche export expert on customs The Customs People.

David Miller customs consultant and co-founder of The Customs People said: ‘Making a customs declaration is a complex process and can be costly if you get it wrong.’

As part of their Brexit planning UK businesses should also request updates from their suppliers in Europe so they can co-ordinate their preparations for any eventuality.

Mr Miller added: ‘This might not be high on their agenda but European suppliers need to come up with plans for various Brexit outcomes otherwise firms in the UK will suffer when we leave the EU.’
