Sharing the benefit of experience

I have been mentored formally and informally at key transitional stages in my 30-year tax career such as moving from trainee to manager – which is one of the hardest transitions – and then from director to partner at Crowe UK.

Crowe has a formal mentoring programme which aims to support recognise and support talented people by pairing them with highly experienced individuals within the firm. Formal mentoring programmes can work well to achieve a particular target or outcome especially if you enjoy the structure and accountability of a formal mentoring relationship.

As well as being a formal mentor I informally mentor those within the tax practice at Crowe. Informal mentoring is generally less structured and is more about sharing experiences and taking the time to understand what the other person is looking to achieve and why.
