TIWB strengthens countries’ ability to tax multinationals

Boosting domestic revenues by improving tax auditing

Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) is boosting domestic revenues by improving tax auditing and tightening compliance in Africa Asia Europe Latin America and the Caribbean.

Higher tax revenues directly attributable to the initiative’s programmes and support are estimated at US$414m as of April 2018 according to its 2017-18 annual report.

TIWB is run jointly by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the United Nations Development Programme. Ten programmes have been completed so far. A further 34 are under way and 20 are in the pipeline. TIWB is on track to meet its goal of delivering 100 deployments of tax auditor experts to low-income countries by 2020.

Eleven countries have deployed serving tax officials to provide hands-on learning-by-doing assistance to auditors in these jurisdictions.
