Advertising of contractor loan schemes is misleading.
HMRC has published Spotlight 42 explaining that advertising of contractor loan schemes by promoter Williams Gordon on its website is misleading and must be withdrawn. It comes after complaints made by HMRC to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The spotlight describes how the schemes work and the claims that were made, including one that participants could take home 92% of their pay. HMRC states that the ASA ruling sets an example so that other avoidance promoters cannot make similar claims.
