Finance Bill 2018 has been published. It has 50 clauses and 12 schedules. The second reading is scheduled for 11 December with a debate by the Committee of the Whole House on 18 and 19 December.

Rent-a-room relief

The Treasury has launched a call for evidence to discover the extent to which rent-a-room relief fulfils its purpose of helping to increase the quantity and variety of low-cost rented housing. The deadline for responses is 23 February 2018. See here.

Pensions

Pension Schemes Newsletter 93 published by HMRC is available. It covers the autumn Budget announcements on pensions reporting non-taxable death benefits relief at source for Scottish income tax the new pensions online service pension payments to trustees in bankruptcy or third parties the lifetime allowance service and the annual allowance.
