Early day motion 547
MPs are being urged to debate the employment practices of delivery service Hermes.
An early day motion, sponsored by Frank Field MP, regrets ‘that 10,500 self-employed people delivering parcels for Hermes ... do not enjoy the flexibility that is commonly associated with self-employment’.
It adds that HMRC should inquire into ‘whether Hermes and other companies comprising the gig economy are enforcing self-employment on workers in order to escape their tax, National Insurance and pension liabilities’.
