  • To a substantial extent the RTI system should have simplified end-of-year procedures.
  • Missing National Insurance numbers may delay payment of state benefits.
  • Because 2016 is a leap year week 53 or 54 payments may be required.
  • Previous pay and tax figures should be checked and corrected if necessary.
  • Continuing entitlement to reduced rates of National Insurance should be checked.

With the end of the tax year fast approaching now is an excellent time to ensure for advisers operating PAYE schemes to check that they are well prepared to enable the 2015/16 tax year to be closed swiftly and efficiently.
