Payrolling benefits

Finance Bill 2016 will amend ITEPA 2003 s 684 to allow employers to payroll voluntarily non-cash vouchers and credit tokens from 6 April 2017.

RPI

The retail prices index for February 2016 was 260.0.

VAT on fuel

The VAT road fuel scale charges are amended from 1 May 2016. Businesses must use the new rates from the start of the next prescribed accounting period beginning on or after that date.

VAT gap

The VAT gap is estimated at 10.8% of the estimated net VAT total theoretical liability in 2014/15 according to HMRC’s Second estimate of the VAT gap for 2014/15. This equates to £13.5bn.
