Protocol changes for HMRC online.
The Revenue has confirmed that since 6 January 2016 protocol changes have applied to the government gateway, as a result of which it is no longer possible to connect to online services through the gateway using the SSLv3 protocol.
Instead, users should ensure their browser (or other software) is capable of using and configured to use “transport layer security” (TLS) 1.0 or above, (TLS 1.1 and 1.2).
It has not been possible to connect to HMRC online services using the SSLv3 protocol since 30 September 2015.
