  • Employer Bulletin 57 reminds businesses that the temporary reporting relaxation for those with up to nine employees ends on 5 April 2016. Make sure that clients who fall into that category are aware how their obligations will change.

 

  • In light of the decision in Ambrosia Bakes (TC4694) impress upon clients the importance of verifying customers’ VAT status to ensure entitlement to input tax claims on invoices.

 

  • Tax avoidance schemes – we know some are still being marketed. If a client wants to discuss the merits of such arrangements make sure they are aware of the accelerated payment and follower notice regimes and warn them that if something looks too good to be true it probably.

 

  • HMRC are doing their best to dissuade taxpayers from taking part in tax schemes and are imposing increasingly tough...
