Tax receipts to July 2015.
Self-assessment income tax receipts were £1.15bn higher in July 2015 than 12 months earlier, according to HMRC’s monthly tax statistics.
The increase in self-assessment tax receipts suggests that more people have joined the self-assessment regime, which is an indicator that small businesses are beginning to grow, according to Blick Rothenberg.
On PAYE receipts, Paul Haywood-Schiefer, personal tax assistant manager at Blick Rothenberg, said: “these continue to grow with a £6.8bn increase in the past 12 months being three times as much of the increase of the 12 months to July 2014. This coincides with the reduction in unemployment as new jobs are created and the economy grows.”
