Two consultations affecting employers and tax advisers.
The government has published consultations on a range of employment-related matters. Some of these will have a direct impact on employers, tax advisers, agents and payroll bureaux.
Payroll Alliance plans to send a collective response on behalf of its members and Taxation readers. It has compiled two online surveys to feed back comments anonymously to HMRC and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
Please take a few minutes to provide your views on the following subjects.
- Intermediaries legislation (IR35). HMRC are want to improve the effectiveness of the rules when determining status (closes on 30 September).
- Freezing the student loan threshold. From April 2016, the repayment limit increases to £21,000. BIS has proposed two options: freezing the threshold for five years or freezing it for new borrowers only (closes on 14 October).
