As real time information continues to evolve HMRC have recognised that the system is not perfect; however they are listening and acting on feedback from users and employer representatives. As a result the department is making a number of changes to the system to help improve it and will continue to monitor the system to ensure these are effective. HMRC have also stated that they will seek to identify potential future developments that would be beneficial. One of the main issues has been that some employers are struggling to reconcile their PAYE charges with statements from HMRC’s Debt Management and Banking (DMB). This appears to have been due mainly to duplicate employments having been created in error.
