  • The latest Employer Bulletin asks employers to help employees claim the correct employment expenses. Make sure your employer clients have expense policies that clearly distinguish between tax allowable and unallowable expenses – or better still get a dispensation for the allowable ones.
     
  • The taxpayer in Ridpath (TC2785) did not keep records of costs incurred on improving properties leading to him losing his appeal to have expenses allowed against his taxable gains.
