The team is working with schemes through their examples to examine what is causing the discrepancies, with the aim of finding resolutions.
The Revenue hopes the new set-up will form understanding of the issue in greater depth, and lead to steps necessary to prevent the problems arising in future.

The department will update its guidance where appropriate each time a root cause is identified, and as soon as possible.
The section “View your current PAYE payment and submission position”, which is aimed at employers using HMRC’s PAYE online, has been already revamped, to make it clearer when it is updated and what information will be available.
