Questions were raised in the House of Commons about the steps being taken by HMRC to ensure all employers were aware of real-time information (RTI) (compulsory for most employers from April 2013). David Gauke said the department had “recently written to all employers” who were due to join RTI in April 2013.
It would be writing again in February 2013 to the schemes that had not joined the system. He added that HMRC’s customer contact and education teams would also be available to help businesses “before, during and after migration to RTI, including specialist help available via the online support helpline”.
He went to describe HMRC’s awareness campaign. This includes targeted e-mails and flyers, media activity, advertising on Facebook; live Twitter questions and answers; You Tube videos and road shows.
