Unit trusts
A second consultation document concerning the tax rules for unauthorised unit trusts and their investors has been published. It sets out the government’s proposals for changes to the rules, which are designed to simplify the regime and reduce administrative burdens while simultaneously removing avoidance opportunities. The consultation closes on 20 August.
Cars
HMRC have published interim guidance for employers on the completion of forms P11D where cars were provided to employees who can demonstrate that the nature of their employment creates a threat to their personal security.
EMI options
Statutory Instrument SI 2012/1360, increasing the individual limit on qualifying enterprise management incentives (EMI) options from £120,000 to £250,000, was laid before Parliament on 23 May 2012. The order will come into force on 16 June and apply to EMI options granted on or after that date.
