I tried to approach this review on the basis that I am a tax layperson a general practice accountant not specialising in taxation. It is clear that both or either of these books would be very valuable to a person who has no specialised tax knowledge.

The Zurich Tax Handbook is more than 100 pages longer than Tolley’s Tax Guide and I will come back to that point later. It is also printed in heavier paper which would make it very difficult to carry around in a briefcase.
