The Chancellor of the Exchequer was asked to estimate the cost to British businesses for implementing the new iXBRL data system for the financial years 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Exchequer secretary to the Treasury David Gauke replied that HMRC published an updated impact assessment in April 2009, and that the work on iXBRL was ‘largely qualitative, rather than quantitative’.
He also mentioned the ‘rapid developments’ being made to iXBRL over recent months, and the fact that HMRC will be reviewing the figures shown in the impact assessment in due course.
