MIKE TRUMAN reports on the 21st birthday celebrations of the Association of Taxation Technicians

Back in 1989 it is unlikely that the seven subscribers and founder members of the ATT would have expected that their ‘coming of age’ party 21 years later to be such a grand affair.

All the leading lights of the tax world (and a few others like me who managed to blag their way in) were taken on an ear-popping ride to the top of 30 St Mary’s Axe better known as the Gherkin just as the sun was beginning to set last Thursday evening.

There on the top two floors was a display showing the events of the past two decades both in the world as a whole and in tax and the life of the association in particular.

It was however competing with the stupendous 360-degree views of London as the daylight faded and we looked out...
