23 July, London

In March 2010 HMRC published a discussion document announcing consultation on the introduction of principles-based legislation to counter financial products avoidance involving group mismatches.

The document sought feedback on some initial ideas and said that HMRC and HM Treasury would hold an open day to discuss the proposals explore the ideas further and consider other options for tackling group mismatch schemes generically.

It has since been announced that this open day will be held on 23 July from 9.30am to 11.30am at 1 Horse Guards Road London.

Those wishing to attend should email HMRC. Anyone who has already expressed an interest should have received email confirmation of attendance.

In advance of the open day draft legislation and explanatory material will be sent to attendees to provide a framework for discussion.
