The Chancellor was asked whether he intended to implement the proposed changes of taxation rates for furnished holiday letting properties in April 2011.

In reply, David Gauke, exchequer secretary, said the Government was committed to meet its EU treaty obligations in respect of the taxation of furnished holiday lettings, but in a way that did not penalise UK-based businesses.

Until it had decided how to do this, the existing furnished holiday lettings rules continue to apply.
