'So much for "customer service".'

All the profession suffer from the inefficiencies of HMRC, but some actual figures may be of interest to justify our complaints.

A large proportion of the returns I submit (all within the time limit) are sent to a local office and for 2007-08 the time between submission and confirmation of liability has been as follows:

The average of the above is 89 days; so much for ‘customer service’.

It would appear that returns submitted in June to September suffered the greatest delay with the average 104 days.
