More than 170,000 tax professionals have called HMRC's agents dedicated lines (ADLs), which today completed their three-month roll-out.
The specialist advice offering — for enquiries on taxpayer-specific calls about self assessment and PAYE — was launched in an attempt by the taxman to provide a more efficient telephone service to tax advisers.
It has so far enjoyed positive feedback from agents, said Brian Redford, head of the Revenue's agents and employers service improvement programme, which is responsible for the ADLs.
Earlier this year, HMRC revamped the agents section of their website and launched an instant news alert service that can be accessed free of charge via an RSS feed.
