Alistair Darling may soon announce the final details of his capital gains tax reform, according to a report.
The story from Thomson Financial News says Government sources played down rumours that the Chancellor would reveal his plans as early as this week.
But they indicated that Mr Darling could make an announcement some time next week.
Thomson Financial's report comes hot on the heels of an attack on the Treasury by CBI chairman Richard Lambert.
He told the BBC that businesses in the UK were being left in a 'state of complete confusion' because of Mr Darling's seeming unwillingness to share the minutiae of his proposed changes to CGT.
Mr Lambert's complaints were just the latest in a long series from companies, industry bodies and tax experts.
