Hurray! You have passed your CTA exams. Is it time to put your career on fast forward, asks ALLISON PLAGER

The excruciating waiting time is over. You are one of the latest batch of candidates who have passed their CTA exams and can now call yourself chartered tax adviser. All that hard work was worth the effort.

Everyone in the tax and accountancy world knows how tough the CTA exams are and realises the huge and probably essentially joyless work that has to be done to pass them.

Apart from the statutory phone call to your mum telling her the good news will the next phone call be to a recruitment consultant?

Becoming a CTA is a great opportunity to have a career rethink especially given how miserable January and February are (unless you are off skiing) and newly qualified CTAs are in great demand.
