Large number of duplicated transactions now in the SDLT Core System

SDLT duplication

Following a recent upgrade to the Government Gateway, HMRC advise that 'a large number of duplicated transactions are now in the SDLT Core System. This means that customers who filed online between 19 to 26 July could receive two paper SDLT5 certificates in the post (one for the online transaction, as normal — and one duplicate). Each will have a different UTRN. We are sorry that we were not able to prevent the issue of the second certificate. Where payment has not already been made, customers should use the UTRN from the online certificate. Working with our IT partners, we will ensure that SDLT12s are not issued for the duplicate transaction so you are not asked to make any additional payments'.
HMRC have apologised for this and say that they are working with their IT partners to resolve the problem and will issue news of any developments.
