It's a CIS story
The following is a letter sent by a reader to HMRC West Hampshire Area office complaining about the CIS Helpline. The detailed time log referred to can be found on our website linked from the web version of this article. The letter was copied to Dave Hartnett and an acknowledgment has been received from his office.
We are writing to register a formal complaint with your office on connection with the appalling lack of service and assistance in the above case. We should point out that this is not a complaint about your own office but the CIS helpline. However there is no mechanism for complaining about the helpline and hence our initial letter has to be to your office.
We have been trying to verify subcontractors under the new CIS since 10 April.
