Since 1999, the amount spent on online website advertising services as part of the 'Tax doesn't have to be taxing' campaign is £2,522,459, said John Healey. He added that 'the latest tracking research has shown that the proportion of people claiming to have started online filing has continued to increase' with 2.9 million returns filed online in 2007, i.e. 35.1% of total returns, against a target of 35%.
