The introduction of LEAN has been a great success despite some rather unfortunate publicity generated by the Professional and Civil Service Union's scurrilous attacks in their 'Lean Times' bulletin which staff should ON NO ACCOUNT read at http://snipurl.com/lean1.
One of the newspaper reports ludicrously suggested that colleagues had been restricted to one cup and one pen or pencil on their desks. This is totally untrue. Colleagues in LEAN offices are NOT permitted to have cups on their desks as this would imply that they are allowed to spend valuable working time making or collecting drinks. Pens and pencils are outdated technology and encourage colleagues to try and 'take responsibility' for customer queries rather than adopting the correct procedure of making an incomprehensible note...
