FOLLOWING MY BRIEF meeting with David Taxable and his daughter Penny on Victoria Station during the CIOT's 'Tax Advice Week' (Taxation 26 October 2006 page 83) they invited me and various CIOT members round to their home to review their tax affairs. The chance to discuss matters with various professionals seemed to outweigh the fact that their finances would be digested by Taxation readers but David did ask that these details should go no further. As I have given him my assurance to that fact I should be grateful if you would all honour that commitment!
On arrival one morning a few days later at chez Taxable — or 'Dun Taxin' according to the sign on the gate — the house seemed to be a hive of activity. David Taxable is in the construction industry and although dressed in suit and tie for an on-site...
