Story so far
Let's recap. HMRC are sending out letters to your clients asking them to take part in a pilot exercise trialling new ways of ensuring that taxpayers are making accurate returns without opening a full enquiry.
Samples of the letters have now been made available via the websites of the professional bodies; they are available both at the CIOT website and on the ICAEW Tax Faculty's pages. The categories of letter are:
- CC — correction challenge where HMRC believe from information they hold that income is underdeclared for example missing bank or building society
