Domestic matters

Rebecca Benneyworth warned that employers can have PAYE compliance problems when they implement childcare schemes for their employees. To remain tax and National Insurance free the childcare vouchers must be used to pay for approved childcare and not exchanged for cash so any refunds made to an employee by the nursery should be cleared with the employer first.
Employees who accept a salary sacrifice in return for childcare vouchers may be reducing their pay below the national minimum wage threshold. The value of the vouchers...
