I have two matters that I would like to raise which would potentially affect all practitioners.
Firstly we have just received a letter from the Revenue Tax Credit Office regarding Working Tax Credit. We knew that payment through the payroll was to cease and generally we welcome the clarification of the position from now until next April. We are however concerned by the part that requests/instructs us to write to all employees who receive the Credit. We cannot understand why this should be the responsibility of the payroll rather than HMRC. We run some fifty payrolls and will inevitably be asked to produce the letter. It seems equally inevitable that questions will be addressed to ourselves rather than HMRC despite the phone number given. We feel this is over and above what should be expected of a payroll...
