HM Treasury press release dated 15 August 2005

The Treasury has donated £2 million to the Disasters Emergency Committee in recognition of the VAT collected on fund-raising events and sales in support of the Indian Ocean Tsunami Earthquake Appeal. This will be in addition to the minimum of £15 million the DEC estimates has been given in tax relief on public contributions to the appeal made through the gift aid scheme.
