We are pleased to announce that the new editor of Taxation magazine is Mike Truman LLB, FCA, CTA (Fellow), MSFA, who will take up the post on 4 August 2004. His fellowship thesis 'Residence: 150 years of misinterpretation?' won the Chartered Institute of Taxation prize in 1995.

We are pleased to announce that the new editor of Taxation magazine is Mike Truman LLB, FCA, CTA (Fellow), MSFA, who will take up the post on 4 August 2004. His fellowship thesis 'Residence: 150 years of misinterpretation?' won the Chartered Institute of Taxation prize in 1995.
Mike's career began with the Inland Revenue as an Inspector of Taxes. He then worked in the tax departments of Robson Rhodes, Arthur Andersen and Menzies, before commencing his own tax consultancy practice in 1986. He gradually combined this with writing and lecturing, and became a full-time writer and lecturer in 1991.
He has edited Taxpartner Digest for Longman and Update for what was the Accountancy Business Group, for whom he also wrote 'Small Business Advisers' Toolkit: Taxation'. He has been an associate producer with Einstein Network's Accountancy Channel. He has lectured for Tolley Tax Training, BPP Professional Development and Pentagon.
Mike is married, with two children, and lives in Guildford.
Retail prices index
The all items retail prices index stood at 186.8 for June 2004.
Royal Assent
The Finance Act received Royal Assent on 22 July 2004.
