The Institute of Indirect Taxation has announced the results of its Associateship examinations held on 5 and 6 December 2000. There were seventeen successful candidates including two from Customs and Excise. Prizes were awarded to Julie-Ann Towers of Critchleys and Katy Barber of KPMG.

 

Enterprising communities

A Treasury consultation document 'Enterprising communities: A tax incentive for community investment' seeks views on a proposal for a new tax credit for community investment. This follows the report by the Social Investment Taskforce before the November 2000 pre-Budget report. The aim of the tax credit is to attract greater flows of private investment into enterprises in deprived communities in a way that would also help build skills and capacity to promote long-term success.
