I am just sorting out a client company who received a £1 200 penalty for not filing a 2008 form P35.
The company was incorporated in January 2009 and the PAYE scheme was opened in March 2009.
It took a while for the HMRC call centre staff to realise how stupid the situation was and they finally conceded that it may be an HMRC error.
However on top of all that I was told not to worry as the scheme was now closed with effect from 1 April 2009.
Now I have to wait for three to seven working days for someone to call me back – if I am lucky.
